How Do I Make My Small Bathroom Look Bigger?
Due to the nature of my business, I go to a lot of client's houses. The one thing they always get worried about is the size of their bathroom and whether it looks too small or if it feels too small and they always ask me, "How can I make my bathroom look bigger?". This is when I get creative with the design, the colour schemes and essentially when I come into my own and start to think about how I can make the best of the space.
The first thing you need to think about are the colour schemes. It's really important you don't use really dark colours. It's really important to have really good lighting rather than the fluorescent tubes or halogen lights. We go for a nice cool, white spotlight. This is amazing and really lights up the room to it's best capability.
The other thing we need to think about is tiles. When you have big tiles or big rectangular tiles, you get nice long lines instead of small tiles as when you have small tiles you get lots of grout lines. Now don't get me wrong, small tiles can look right in the right environment and right place, but having a whole bathroom, it can be quite overpowering and draw the bathroom in, like the tiles shown within the video.
The next thing you can do is have large mirrors. They can really open a room.
I like to use the cavities in walls, ff i'm able to, I'll put recessed mirror cabinets in the wall to utilise the space better.
The final thing you need to think about is, whether you actually need a bath in your bathroom. You might just want to have a shower so you get rid
of that bath, which will open up the floor completely because it'll all be at one level. You could go even further and have a wet room as then
then, you can have the whole floor tiled in exactly the same tile. This will be accompanied by a wet room tray.
These are some elements you should definitely consider to really open up the bathroom and make it feel bigger if you don't feel it's the right size bathroom.
